The Reasons of The Color
Change in Garnets
The effect of color shift is caused by a
comparatively strong presence of vanadium or chromium in the crystal matrix of the garnet. A
color Change gem absorbs wavelengths of light in the areas where these types of light differ
the most. Thus, if light with varying qualities reaches such a stone, it will reveal
different colors.
In order to understand the full spectrum of color variations
of these stones, it is important to view the stones under early morning light, fluorescent
light, late afternoon sunlight and incandescent light.

THE QUESTION
What Happened To Garnet
Throughout History?
Remnants of garnet accessories can be
traced back as early as the Bronze Age. They were used as gemstones but also abrasives back
in the days. Other examples date back to 3100 BC when the Egyptians used garnets as
ornaments in their jewelry and #carvings. Recent excavations at Egyptian burial sites
revealed garnet necklaces decorating the necks of mummified pharaohs. The Egyptians also
said that garnets were the symbol of life.
Garnets were very popular during the Roman
Era during the 3rd and 4th centuries. Actually, in Rome, it was common for noble apostles to
have carved signet rings made of garnet. Signet rings often included intaglios of the garnet
used to seal the wax and protect valuable documents.

With over ten years of marketing
experience, I finally decided to settle down in Bangkok to work in an area that I have
always been interested in: the gemstones industry. I'm still learning how the market works
on a daily basis, and I enjoy sharing my experience with those who are interested in
learning more about gems in general.
