What You Should Know About
Tanzanites
Of course, there are risks associated with
any investment. However, since its discovery in 1967, the price of tanzanite has risen
dramatically. Tanzania, the only nation where tanzanite is mined, has experienced a number
of political upheavals, causing the stone's availability to fluctuate. Supply is becoming
increasingly limited as the world's only supplier is frantically exploited to meet enormous
and growing demand.
As a result, the stone is becoming increasingly scarce,
especially in the more desirable quality, which historically accounts for less than 1% of
total output. Furthermore, tanzanite's mineral name, zoisite, is found only in a few places
around the world (Kenya, Norway, Switzerland...). As a result, increased market volatility
could result from the discovery of gem-grade zoisite that can be heat-treated to a similar
blue hue in the future.

THE QUESTION
Is It A Good Investment?
However, it has been suggested that the
mine could be depleted within a few years, which we believe is incorrect. There will be
enough tanzanite to last for many decades. Until then, the investment will be determined by
how much risk you are willing to take in order to determine whether or not the mine will be
exhausted quickly enough.
Also, if we ever discover a new deposit anywhere on
Earth, which is almost unlikely due to the extraordinary conditions that must be met for its
formation, the market will crash. But, as we've seen with numerous other stones, anything
can happen! It is still a strong investment in our opinion, and we would suggest investing
in tanzanite.

With over ten years of marketing
experience, I finally decided to settle down in Bangkok to work in an area that I have
always been interested in: the gemstones industry. I'm still learning how the market works
on a daily basis, and I enjoy sharing my experience with those who are interested in
learning more about gems in general.
